Windows games might have Mac OS counterparts but they are still optimized for window, as an example many use direct x 11 (like world of Warcraft) whose Mac version doesn't use the newest OpenGL version. However if you do need Mac OS for any reason then you have to know that first.

Macs are not really made for gaming, I have the newest MacBook Pro in its highest configuration and just runs a bit better than my 3 years ago asus gaming laptop. My question is, what is good enough? Seems to me like CPUs have come so far it's probably overkill?Īny help on this would be much appreciated! It's pretty much all hieroglyphics to me. I'm in absolutely zero rush at the moment, would it be worthwhile to wait and see what the next generation brings in terms of GPUs?Īlso, I'm pretty confused where processors are concerned. I think I've decided on a RMacBook Pro, mostly for the portability and definitely to get the dedicated graphics card. I really just don't want to manage two systems. I guess while I definitely agree that a two computer setup is probably the way to go. No video editing or anything like that.Įdit: (copied my posted reply below so it didn't get buried) I would like the possibility to load windows and run a non OS compatible game (with high settings and decent frame rates) if I feel the need. I've never been into FPS or anything like that. I am seeking a machine that I could play just about any MMO type game that comes into the market. Now my ex's 2011 played Diablo 3 very well, and even ran 6-8 versions of EQmac at one time (I understand that isn't saying much). However, I usually just travel with my iPad mini and a wireless keyboard (less to lose). I'm sort of leaning towards the macbook for pulling it along when I travel. I'm trying to decide between iMac/macbook. What I haven't decided is what is the best bang for my buck. I've decided I want a Mac, I fell in love with my ex's 2011 MacBook pro when we were together and my computer crapped out. I have been a long time viewer of this sub and while this question has been somewhat eluded to on many occasions, I just can't seem to make a decision for fear of making the wrong one. Hello everyone, Thank you for taking the time to review and make recommendations.
